Extra Notes
This is a nice example !It is 19th century, but I would say second half. Possibly Sandalwood ! Not sure
It is a heavy, yellow, fine-grained timber and in addition to carving, is often harvested for its oil which has many relaxing properties. Unlike other aromatic woods, sandalwood retains its scent for decades and is the second most expensive wood in the world. The main two species can found in India and Australia, due to the highly prized nature of the wood an illegal trade has developed, estimated to be worth AU$2.5 million in 2012. In several religions including Hinduism and Buddhism, sandalwood is very sacred and the wood, paste or powder is used in a variety of ways including as incense for meditation, worship, rituals and ceremonies.
