Jade Carving of The 5 poisons protection . China, 19th Century.

Description
Green jade with large brown color spectrum. Intricately carved. On the verso is a group of insects on the stone's brown color area, plants including lotus root and ruyi heads on the greener part. Relatively plain recto.
Extra notes : may effect value increase - Just for info: subject of carving seems to be 'The Five Poisons' - a charm featuring the poisonous animals, used as protection against being poisoned. Five were toad, snake, scorpion, centipede, spider. Since these are only meaningful to Chinese people its a sign the carving is authentic and not a bit of junk made for Western market. It also suggests carving might be C19th i.e. earlier rather than later. Anyway, hope this info is useful.
